Ksar of Ait Benhaddou
Description
The ksar of Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and became famous as the filming location of some of the scenes of popular television show Game of Thrones.
The ksar was founded around 750 and was a key place in the commercial trade between the Sahara Desert and Marrakesh. Most of the buildings are residential built with local natural materials, but there is also a mosque and a public area. Few people live there now, and the place is mostly a tourist attraction, with lots of restaurants and inns. It’s about 30 km from Ouarzazate.
